Acoustic Research Integrated Amplifier and FM Tuner
This offering is for a very rare pair of classic stereo components by Acoustic Research.
This pair needs to go to a collector who desires matched 70’s retro equipment.
One unique feature of these pieces is the wood cabinets: they are beautiful solid cherry wood, hand-made by Vintage AR, so I believe they should stay together as a matched pair!  Copies of related AR literature are included.
I have had these two pieces in my personal collection for many years.
Now it’s time for us to downsize our living quarters, so I am parting with much of my vintage hi-fi gear- including these two.
The amplifier bias circuit was professionally updated (per AR’s instructions) to prevent thermal runaway.
The original power cable was showing wear, so it was replaced.
The “sticky” metal case paint was professionally removed and replaced with matching high-quality paint.
Otherwise, everything is stock, including the sometimes “scratchy’ controls!
I do not run my equipment to its limits.
That being said, the AR Amplifier (at 50 watts per side into 8 ohms) has plenty of power to spare.
It will certainly drive a pair of AR-3’s or 3a’s to moderate, undistorted levels.
The tuner power supply capacitor was replaced, as were the dial/indicator lamps.
The “sticky” metal case paint was also professionally removed and replaced with matching high-quality paint.
Otherwise, everything is stock.
When tested with an FM dipole antenna, sensitivity and selectivity were excellent.
It nicely pulled in distant FM stations.
Again, I am selling these as a pair of excellent examples of classic AR components- encased in solid cherry cabinets from Vintage AR.
The amp and tuner will be separately boxed, with both boxes placed in one larger single box (double boxed).
