Sansui 3900Z Vintage Stereo Receiver Tested:
This vintage stereo sounds great and has been tested. It has some issues with some of the inputs(see below).
Both A and B speaker sets output sound (tested separately). The fm auto tracking tracks the station it’s on and shows it drifting on the display. Bass, treble, and balance dials all work as expected.
I don’t have an external am antenna but was able to get an am station in without it and it sounded clear. I did not test the headphone jack.
Input testing:
Aux - no sound
Phono - very crunchy sounding
Tape (play) - works and sounds good
Tape (record) - no sound
Cosmetically this unit is in pretty good overall condition. All of the lights on the front work well. It has some scratches throughout and a few areas with light discoloration. I’m not sure what the AA batteries in the back do but the compartment looks clear and I replaced them with new ones(included).
It measures approximately 19” wide, 5.5” tall and 13” deep.
