Not used very much because I have about 20 extras of them left over from watercolor work shops

Best brand of brush I have ever owned.

I am selling off everything to down size and close my studio
This is a very nice, very good brush.
Personally, I think that without a blended
Natural Sable & Synthetic round
brush that snaps to a good point like the #10 does, you cannot paint well with watercolors.
See the pictures for additional description and information.
Last photo shows a little wear around one side of ferrule.
Lot's of life left in this fine brush  - price is LOW.

Excerpts from promotional literature:
Artists generally recognize that pure sable brushes are the best, but costly, so consideration of price may compel many to use a synthetic brush instead.
Winsor & Newton Sceptre Gold II Brushes are the perfect mix of sable and synthetic giving the performance of a sable at just above the price of synthetic.
While today's synthetic brushes perform better than ever, pure sable still has the edge. This is why Winsor & Newton offers Sceptre Gold II, a brush that's made from a blend of pure sable and synthetic fibers, giving you a performance that is very close to sable at a price that is close to synthetic.
The blend of hair in Sceptre Gold II also gives you added benefits. Sable hair has excellent spring while the high quality synthetic filaments ensure that the brushes are soft enough to work the color but also have a strong snap so they return back to their original shape with ease. The high proportion of sable in Sceptre Gold II gives the brushes considerably more ability to make larger washes in one stroke than normal synthetic brushes and the hairs are tapered to a fine point, giving the brush control for detailed work.
The flat brush is great for edges and small shapes like making windows and doors, fenceposts, etc. These flat brushes give firm, sharp lines for lettering and one stroke work as well.
They possess great spring and color carrying capacity.
Some Independent Reviews:
Here are some independent reviews of the Winsor & Newton Sceptre Gold (long handle) and Sceptre Gold II (shorter handle.)
I thought the reviews might help build your confidence in this blended kind of sable brush.

I have use the sceptre brushes for 2 decades. I started out using them painting Christmas windows and then acrylics. I recently starting doing watercolors and have ,ounce again, found these to be my favorite. The flats are responsive for line work yet hold there shape for lettering or watercolor painting. They hold a lot of color and can take a beating. This is by far the best brush in my vast collection. I will skip my kolinsky sable and black velvets , if I have the brush I am searching for in Sceptre gold. My only complaint would be selection....please make a wider variety of these.
I would definitely buy again!

The Windsor Newton brushes are great for watercolor washes and painting. I have always used these brushes over the past 50 years. Quality has been always consistent, and if taken care of they will serve you well. Windsor Newton are more expensive but are really worth the cost.
GOOD QUALITY BRUSH

I really enjoy using this brush for watercolor; I am currently using it for color charts and it works well. Comes to a great point and carries a good load of watercolor. It isn't getting scrappy or fuzzy looking at all.
Amazing

This brush is flexible when needed and firm when necessary. Basically I use it in my watercolor painting for just about anything or everything! The best brush ever!
